Embracing opportunity

I was thrilled to be invited back to the Battle of Alberta: An Evening With Legends in support of the Calgary Canucks. Last year I did a painting of Lanny McDonald and Mark Messier before the event, and one live.

They signed both and raised a lot of money.

What started out as doing one live painting at this year's event grew into three additional paintings that I did this week and will take with me to the celebration.

Having done over 2,500 paintings in the last ten years, I generally know what I need in terms of time - and to some degree, energy - to make paintings happen. In this case, three paintings of goalies, I felt like I had the right amount of time to get them done for the client.

This is a busy time for me. We just finished the Birdsong Fall auction and shipped out scores of paintings, prints and puzzles to various people across Canada. I'm about to leave for a trip home to Saskatchewan to visit my parents.
When I get back, we jump right into a tree painting workshop at the Bob Snodgrass Recreations Centre here in High River. Apparently a dozen people are signed up so far. You can call (403)652-4042 to join the fun.

The next day we open our doors for an Open House of our entire property with our friends at SEED Homes. There as been great curiosity about our SEED Home and Birdsong Studios here in High River. We have taken out an ad in the local paper, the High River Times, to share the invitation more widely.
