Seeing Birdsong

With the studio building in place, unwrapped and unfolded, Heather and I are able to walk through the space and get a better feel as to how things will be set up. Seeing it as a schematic drawing on paper is one thing; walking through it and confirming measurements is much more effective.

My office area will be nice and open. We decided to remove a wall separating the office from the rear entry door. That will create a beautiful display wall which will be 10 feet long. We will also have a roomy sitting space in the passageway that will lead from the office into the actual studio. It will be a comfortable spot to visit with guests.

My painting space will be tucked away in the east corner, next to the cardboard and canvas storage area. I'm delighted by the fact I will have a long and tall window to look out as I spend my hours at the easel.
Heather will have the entirety of the west side of the studio. In the middle will be our work table and additional space that could be used for lessons and workshops. Along the north wall, under the windows, will be IKEA cabinets providing ample storage for art supplies and various other things.

The in-law suite will be absolutely intimate. With a Murphy bed that folds up into a sofa/seating area, it will be a wonderful place for visiting family members to hang out and AirBnB guests to relax. A small deck off the patio door will provide some outdoor relaxation space, too.

There is a lot of finishing work to happen, but that is already underway as the building has been buttoned up and protected from the elements. Two or three weeks from now we should be close to completion.
