World of White
As the final vestiges of snow melted, I stood out front of our house and chatted with Dylan, our neighbour from two doors down.
"Winter will have on last hurrah, then it will be spring," I said.
In what is expected to be a drought year, all you can say is that the moisture is going to help us all. It will help the farmers. It will help the water situation. It will give the gardens a fighting chance.
I don't mind the snow, especially when I don't have to drive anywhere. Staying close to home is alright by me. It also gives me a chance to get out and do some shoveling. On a day like this, when the younger families who live to the west are all working or shuttling kids to school, I will endeavour to do the sidewalk in front of their properties, too.
The folks who own the empty lot next door to the east have snow clearing people on contract. Sometimes I beat them to it. Other times, they are out before me.
When this storm clears out, I'm pretty sure that will be the end of winter for this season and warmer days will start. Heather and I are both looking forward to cleaning up the yard of construction debris and getting ready for the arrival of Birdsong Studio 3.0, the second building on our property which will get lifted into place by a crane within a couple of weeks. It is in its final construction phase at SEED Homes in southeast Calgary.
