The Ideal road
We always knew that we would jump back into the Ideal Protein program when we got settled in High River. In my mind, I thought I would be really ready to get back on program when the studio building arrived. However, internal motivations are hard to predict. I got the feeling in my belly earlier in March that the time had come for me to stop with the chips, specialty cookies, bourbon, French fries and various other temptations. I stopped cold turkey around the 11th of March. As the month comes to an end, I am about 11 pounds lighter.
While the Ideal Protein program provides the tools to not only lose the weight but to keep it off, most of us fall off the train when life throws us its curve balls. There are only a hearty few that can stay disciplined enough to weather the storms that come along and keep the weight off for the long haul. I have great admiration for those that can. I also have great empathy for those who cannot.
I feel like a more effective coach when I'm on the Ideal Protein program myself. When I'm in that headspace I can better relate to, empathize with, and provide meaningful and authentic insights to my weight loss clients.
We were invited out for a lovely roast chicken dinner last night. Were I not on program, my plate would have been heaping. As it was, I enjoyed a tasty portion of chicken breast meat, brussel sprouts peppered with real bacon bits, a small helping of stuffing (which I cannot resist) and a zesty salad. I finished the meal completely satisfied, yet not over full. I even acquiesced and had dessert. While it was likely enough off-program choices to knock me out of ketosis for a few days, I got on the scale this morning and didn't see a setback. A win!
Most of us have struggled with weight gain and the internal conflict of loving food but desiring to be more fit. All of us likely reach a point when we are mentally ready to do something about it. It's nice to have access to a tool like the Ideal Protein program when we reach that point. It works.
Interested? Send me a note if you want to find out more. Our Ideal Protein clinic is temporarily in our SEED Home in High River, but soon it will be fully set up in Birdsong Studio 3.0. Its arrival in High River is imminent.
