Synchronicity
A client popped into the studio this week to pick up a couple of dog portraits. At the same time, he asked if I might be interested in doing a live painting at his daughter's wedding this summer. I instantly began thinking of all the wedding paintings I have done over the years. One particular one popped into my head. I tried finding it while the client was standing over my shoulder, but it didn't seem to want to pop up.
I went back to my computer over lunch and spent 45 minutes going file by file trying to find the image of this one particular wedding painting. No luck. I thought that perhaps I screwed up and forgot to photograph it. I put the search aside and carried on with my day.
A few hours later, I was working at the easel when a visitor popped into the studio. Unbelievably, it was the bride in the wedding painting that I was desperately trying to find earlier in the day. What????
What are the chances? Searching for one of about 1,200 paintings, coming up empty, and having the subject of that one painting show up, unannounced, at my door just a few hours later. Holy crap! Right??
This client now lives in the Calgary area in a modern home. They have one painting on their walls - the one I was trying to find. After over five years, they still absolutely love it.
I finally found the photo in the end, but I'm not going to share it, as I don't want to compromise the privacy of this couple, but I felt compelled to share the story.
The Universe has a way of enabling magical moments of synchronicity. This was one of them.
