On the right track

I started back on the Ideal Protein program on June 7th.  A total of 20 days later I have lost 10 pound and several inches.  It might have been more if I had been 100 percent diligent, but special family events and a camping trip coaxed me to give myself a few cheats.

When I shared that with Bill, my IP guy a few doors down here on historic Elma Street, he said that when you are fully into the program, it's surprising how quickly the body can get back into ketosis.  What is ketosis?  I'll ask Sir Google.

Ketosis is a process that happens when your body doesn't have enough carbohydrates to burn for energy. Instead, it burns fat and makes things called ketones, which it can use for fuel.

In other words, it is a state in which you can loose weight and have increased energy.  That's a winning combination.

My shorts are starting to feel a little loose.  My middle age bulge is becoming less pronounced.  And my body fat percentage is dropping to a healthier level.

There is an expense to doing a carefully designed eating program like Ideal Protein, for sure!  However, the money that I don't spend on eating out, junk food, and alcohol probably balances everything out.  Plus, I'm buying way more fresh vegetables.  It is conceivable that in the great scheme of things we might be actually spending less.

I have always enjoyed the simplicity and the regimen of the IP program.  It works for me.  I'm really looking forward to achieving my second milestone marker:  falling below 180 pounds.  That will be a very happy day.
