Fort McMurray Farewell
On Saturday (June 15th) we are inviting friends and clients to a come and go open house. It's on from 10 am to 3 pm. The address is 114 Demers Drive. Park on the street wherever you can find a spare spot and come right around to Birdsong Studio in the back. Here are a few reasons to pop by:
SWIRL PAINTING WORKSHOP
Over the last month, I've been playing with a fun and relaxing style that I've dubbed "swirl painting". An example is the large painting I did with the help of the fire fighters up on the rooftop at Tim Horton's in Eagle Ridge during their recent fundraiser. We're going to be inviting people to try their own swirl painting. The cost is $20 to cover the supplies. All you have to do is pop over and tell Heather or I that you want to paint and we'll set you up.
CUSTOMER APPRECIATION COUPON
Each person who attends our open house will receive a coupon for 25-percent off your next purchase of a gallery canvas print. With prices ranging from $100 to $400, depending on size, that coupon could save you up to $100.
ART ART ART
Whatever originals and prints that we have left in Birdsong Studio will be on the walls and available for purchase. We may be inspired to knock the prices down to inspire friends to take them home. The less we have to move, the better. Heather will likely have a few pieces available as well. We have a small number of puzzles available. I'm hoping for a new order of O Canada puzzles in the next couple of days to help get you in the mood for Canada Day.
THE MURALS
This is a chance to finally get your "Selfie with Elsie", or with Tom, Punch, Jim or Dorothy. With the home being sold to a new family, it's hard to predict what will happen with these paintings down the road. Robert Coppard kindly came by and professionally photographed the collection for posterity. We can't thank him enough for his kindness.
FAREWELL
Winston Churchill wisely commented that this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. However, it might be the end of the beginning. Our departure from Fort McMurray on June 27th will mark 23 years in Fort McMurray, 20 years in this home, and 5 years of painting. Along the way we've had the pleasure of meeting many fine people. Our commitment to this community and our relationships with so many of you has only just begun. Birdsong Studio will be up and running within a month or so at 74 Elma Street W in Okotoks. If you're ever passing through or spending time in Okotoks, we hope you will find some time to drop by. Heather is planning to be back in Fort McMurray on a very regular basis visiting clients. We also plan to be here for trade shows and whenever opportunities pop up. So "farewell" really should be "until next time".
hooray Russell and Heather on your move and the end of the beginning or beginning of a new beginning.
