Art in October
We are 90% of the way to being able to fund the build of a home for a family in Cambodia after last week's incredible fundraiser at the Best Western Plus in Taiganova. They hosted a lunch buffet with all proceeds going to Bracelets For Buildings, a charity that is building safe and sustainable homes for the poorest of the poor in rural Cambodia in early 2019. After all the pennies were counted, we were delighted to find out how close we got.
There are five pieces in the ART in OCTOBER online auction that are going to help close the gap. Two are from other artists. "The Sky is Falling" has been hanging in our home for over 15 years. It was created by a former Keyano College student named Alice Pallett. We love it, but we are starting the downsizing process and want to find it a new home. We thought it would be great to pay it forward in this way. In a similar way, Liam Mojique Legault has donated a beautiful piece along with Frames By Fraser by artist Ronei Faganello.
Of course, there is a very special item being offered by Kent Lissack - the original Robin Williams, also beautifully framed. If you can donate the full amount to fund the build of an additional home, he will gift you with this very special piece of art. You'll see that the cost to build a home with Bracelets For Buildings, while modest in Canadian terms, is still $4,000.
I should mention that it is not too late to add some art to the auction in support of Bracelets For Buildings if you want to contribute to the fun. Thanks to the generosity of so many people we are going to be able to enhance the lives of several families in southeast Asia. You can be part of making a difference, too.
For the first time, I am offering something that I'm calling an EP or Embellished Print. What does this mean? Simple. When the gallery canvas print arrives in the studio, I am going to add some touches, little enhancements that make it a unique piece. I will sign and date it as a 1 of 1, increasing its desirability and value.
The auction is on until Sunday, October 28th at 9 pm MST. We also need to note the time zone as there are bidders who get in the action from all over the place.
