Painting Vilia
When Vilia spoke, she was extremely passionate, often using her hands and closing her eyes. Certainly one of her shining moments was when she spoke at TEDxFortMcMurray in 2015.
I was the coach for one of the other awesome speakers and was taking pictures from the audience and captured this image of Vilia deep in a moment of expression.
This was Vilia to everyone that knew her: passionate, determined, selfless, and kind.
I have no idea how it will be received by the family, but I painted this shining moment for them. In one way it is my condolence card. In another way it is a symbol of respect and hope; respect of the leader we lost and hope that her dreams for this community come true.
