Putting your best art forward

One of the biggest challenges for artists is to get your creations in front of potential customers.  An incredible opportunity to do just that is coming up on Saturday, July 11th as Arts Council Wood Buffalo partners with the Fort McMurray Urban Market to present an art-themed market.  It will run from 10 am to 4 pm on that day.

"This Urban Market will emphasize the variety of art and artists within our community," reads the blurb on the Arts Council website.  "Artists of all disciplines are invited to host or co-host a Vendor Tent showcasing their art through displays, demonstrations, and of course, sales of their work."

Financial accessibility is often a challenge when it comes to these kind of things, but the Arts Council has went above and beyond to make it easy.  They are covering the tent rental fees for all ACWB members.  They are also providing a pre-market workshop with tips on the best strategies for selling art in a market setting.

I've been so busy working on The Redpoll Centre project and catching up on paintings, that I hadn't given the market a thought until just now.  I sent Michelle Thorne (ACWB Program Manager) an email just a moment ago to see if they have room for me.  It would be a fun venue to do a live painting...maybe even a mural of some kind.  Hmmmmmm?

If you're interested, contact Michelle at michelle.thorne@artscouncilwb.ca by tomorrow (Friday, May 29th).  You can also call her at 587-674-1625 ext 100.  It's a great opportunity to put our best art forward and connect with customers.
